This homage to Josef Albers' original stencil alphabet is intended for a variety of applications. Unlike most stencil typefaces, Gridiot has a modest lowercase x-height for a distinctive flavor. Other notable features include the chamfered or bevel-cut corners. In the Chunky weight, the vertical counters are unchanged, but the chamfers go deeper into each letter, creating a stronger profile.

The oldstyle and lining figures supplied with each weight add to the range of the typeface. The renaissance-inspired cipher zero, which is lighter in appearance, can be replaced by matching weight stylistic alternates in both sets of figures. Included are numerical symbols for both sets of figures and a full range of Western European characters.
